Disclaimer

The ICON-HAMMOZ model has been tested, tuned, and carefully evaluated for a limited number of configurations and parameter settings. However, the results are by no means perfect.

There is no guarantee that the model will produce 'reasonable' results when the configuration, the namelist parameters, or the model code is altered.

We strongly urge users to contact the HAMMOZ developers when you are planning to perform large sets of model simulations and want to change the configuration or parameters of the model.

Furthermore, we refer to the ICON-HAMMOZ licence agreement for a disclaimer of legal responsibility and liability resulting from the use of the ICON-HAMMOZ model.

What's new

Everything!

This is the first (pre-)release of HAM coupled to the ICON model.

It is based on icon-aes-1.3.00 and ham2.3.

Known bugs

Input timing problem, see #814
As a consequence, output of emission data is shifted by one time step, e.g. if daily output is specified the first day of the new month will show the emission data from the month before. In case monthly output is specified, then the output will be delayed by one month.

Getting started

Please read Getting started in order to know how to download the model, build it, and create the appropriate runscripts.

The model is in its current version released with three runscript templates pre-configured for

  • a standard present-day simulation with ACCMIP emission data (exp.atm_amip_hammoz)
  • a standard present-day simulation with ACCMIP emission data for anthropogenic and aircraft emissions but GFAS data for biomass burning emissions (exp.atm_amip_hammoz_GFAS)
  • a pre-industrial simulation representative for 1850 emission conditions (exp.atm_amip_hammoz_PIA) (Caution: SSTs and sea ice are set for present day)

For each of the runscripts a corresponding emission-matrix input file (emi_spec*.txt) is provided.
